Brow Lamination 101: Fuller, Lifted Brows That Last Six Weeks

By Terra Beauty Center · 3 June 2026 · 3 min read

If you have ever spent ten minutes brushing, gelling, and pencilling your brows only to have one stubborn hair pop out of place by lunchtime, brow lamination might be the upgrade you have been looking for.

Here is what it actually does, who it suits, and how to keep the results looking great.

What is brow lamination?

Brow lamination is a chemical setting treatment that softens the bond inside each brow hair, repositions it in a brushed-up direction, then re-sets it in place. The result is fuller, more uniform, lifted brows that hold their shape for around four to six weeks.

Think of it as a perm for your eyebrows. No tinting, no shaving, no shaping needles — just gentle product, careful brushing, and time.

Who brow lamination suits

Lamination is a good option if you have:

  • Unruly or curly brow hairs that grow in different directions
  • Downward-growing brows that hide your shape
  • Sparse or patchy brows where the hair is uneven
  • Asymmetrical brows you want to look more balanced
  • A goal of a fluffier, fuller look without makeup

It is especially popular with clients who used to over-pluck and now want to make the most of the brow hair they have.

Who should think twice

Lamination is not for everyone. Skip it if you have:

  • Recently chemically treated brows (within four weeks)
  • Active eczema, dermatitis, or open skin on or around the brow
  • A history of allergic reactions to perm or relaxer products
  • Very fine or fragile brow hairs (the chemical process may stress them further)

If you are unsure, your beauty therapist can do a patch test before booking the full service.

What a brow lamination appointment looks like

A full brow lamination at Terra Beauty Center takes around 50 minutes and includes:

  1. Brow mapping — measuring your face to find your ideal shape
  2. Wax, trim, and tweeze — clean up the outline and remove strays
  3. Step one solution — softens the brow hair (around 8–12 minutes)
  4. Brushing into shape — your therapist sets the hairs in the lifted direction
  5. Step two solution — locks in the new shape (around 8–10 minutes)
  6. Nourishing serum — calms the brow and supports hair health
  7. Final brush and styling

You can wear makeup again after about 24 hours.

The first 24 hours: what to do (and not do)

The setting solution needs time to fully cure. For the first 24 hours after your appointment:

  • Keep brows completely dry — no water, sweat, or steam
  • Skip the gym, sauna, hot showers, and skincare around the brow
  • Do not touch, brush, or apply product to the brows
  • Sleep on your back if possible, or use a silk pillowcase

After 24 hours you can return to your normal routine.

Ongoing aftercare

To keep results looking great for the full six weeks:

  • Apply the conditioning serum your therapist provides each evening
  • Brush your brows up gently every morning with a clean spoolie
  • Avoid oil-based cleansers and exfoliants directly on the brow
  • Skip retinol on the brow area for the first week

How long do results actually last?

Most clients see beautifully laminated brows for four to six weeks. Hair growth, aftercare, and how often you wash your face all influence the timing. We recommend rebooking every six to eight weeks to keep brows in shape — any sooner can over-process the hair.

Lamination vs tinting: do you need both?

They do different things and pair well together:

  • Lamination changes the direction and shape of the hair
  • Tinting changes the colour for a fuller, more defined look

Many clients add a brow tint to their lamination appointment. The combination gives the most polished, makeup-free brow result.

Brow lamination, brow tinting, and signature brow shaping are all available at Terra Beauty Center in Brunswick West. Book through our online booking system or message us with any questions before your first appointment.

Common questions

How long does brow lamination last?+

Brow lamination usually lasts four to six weeks. Hair growth, cleansing habits, and aftercare can make the result fade sooner or last longer.

Does brow lamination hurt?+

Brow lamination should not hurt. You may feel gentle brushing, waxing, trimming, or tweezing as part of the shaping stage.

Can I do brow lamination if I'm pregnant?+

If you are pregnant, please check with your GP or maternity care provider first and tell your therapist before booking. A patch test may also be recommended.

How often should I get my brows laminated?+

Most clients rebook every six to eight weeks. Booking too soon can over-process the brow hair.

What if I don't like the result?+

Tell your therapist as soon as possible. The brows can usually be brushed into a softer shape, and the lifted effect relaxes gradually as the hair grows.
