Why aftercare matters
A signature facial is more than a surface-level treatment. Depending on the techniques your therapist uses — steam, exfoliation, extractions, masking, lymphatic massage — your skin goes through a small recovery period in the hours that follow. Good aftercare locks in the results. Poor aftercare can undo them.
The first 24 hours: keep it simple
Avoid heavy makeup. Your pores are clean and your skin is breathing. Give it at least 12 hours without foundation if you can manage it.
Do not touch your face. Bacteria from your hands can cause breakouts on freshly cleansed skin.
Skip the gym. Heat and sweat can irritate skin that has just been through a facial. Wait 24 hours before any vigorous exercise.
Avoid direct sun exposure. If you need to go outside, apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher.
Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water — your skin will thank you.
The 24–48 hour window
Some clients notice a slight flush or sensitivity in the day after a facial. This is normal and usually resolves on its own.
During this window, avoid:
- Harsh or exfoliating cleansers
- Retinol or AHA/BHA products (unless your therapist has specifically told you to continue)
- Waxing or any abrasive treatments on the treated area
Continue with your regular gentle cleanser and moisturiser.
When to call us
Contact the studio if you notice:
- Prolonged redness lasting more than 48 hours
- Breakouts that feel unusual or are spreading
- Any reaction you are not sure about
